About the Course

Course Overview

This level is designed to equip beginner learners with the fundamental skills necessary to understand and communicate in Dutch in daily situations. The focus is on practical language use in work-related settings, enabling students to engage confidently in conversations with native Dutch colleagues.

Course Objectives

  • Develop basic conversational skills in Dutch.

  • Understand common phrases and vocabulary for daily use.

  • Practice speaking in various work-related scenarios.

  • Build confidence in using Dutch for small talk and everyday communication.

Key language aspects

The following will be part of the level 1 course:

  • Pronunciation and spelling

  • Sentence structure

  • Introducing yourself in Dutch

  • Talking about work and hobbies

  • Making statements and asking questions

  • Common verbs and vocabulary

  • Counting and numbers

  • Date and time

  • Polite speech

  • Giving an opinion on various topics

  • Talking about things that happen in the present and the future

Conclusion

By the end of this Level 1 Dutch language course, students will be equipped with the essential skills to communicate effectively in Dutch, fostering confidence and ease in professional interactions with native speakers. Example situations for students to be able to navigate in Dutch include talking about themselves during a job interview, scheduling a meeting with a colleague or asking someone for help with their day-to-day work.
