Course Overview

This level is designed for learners who already have a basic foundation in Dutch and want to become more independent and flexible in everyday communication. The focus shifts from simple exchanges to longer conversations, clearer explanations and more spontaneous interaction in both social and work-related situations.

Course Objectives

• Take a more active role in everyday Dutch conversations.

• Expand vocabulary for work, social situations and daily life.

• Learn to describe experiences, plans, opinions and preferences in more detail.

• Understand and respond to common questions and instructions with greater ease.

• Develop greater fluency and confidence when speaking Dutch spontaneously.

Key language aspects

The following will be part of the Level 2 course:

• Expanding sentence structure and connecting ideas

• Talking about past experiences and events

• Talking about plans, intentions and expectations

• Expressing preferences, opinions and reasons

• Comparing people, places and situations

• Using modal verbs and common verb combinations

• Using separable verbs and frequently used irregular verbs

• Connecting sentences with words such as omdat, maar, dus, als and dat

• Using word order correctly in longer sentences

• Expanding practical vocabulary for work and everyday life

Conclusion

By the end of this Level 2 Dutch language course, students will be able to communicate more independently and naturally in a wider range of everyday and professional situations. They will be better equipped to explain what they mean, respond spontaneously and keep a conversation going beyond simple questions and answers.

Example situations include telling a friend what happened during the weekend, explaining a problem at work, discussing plans for an upcoming event, giving an opinion during an informal conversation, making arrangements with colleagues or asking follow-up questions when something is unclear.
